What a thin wire frame is like to wear
A thick plastic frame sits on your face like a visible object. A wire frame mostly gets out of the way. The rim is only a thin line around each lens, so you see less frame when you look at a screen and other people see less frame when they look at you.
It is light. At 16.4 g, Feather is lighter than about two-thirds of our frames, so you are less likely to notice it after a few hours.
The lenses are generous. At 56 × 49 mm, they are larger than most of our frames, so a thin rim does not mean a small view. You can look from monitor to keyboard without the edge of the lens getting in the way.
Four finishes
- Gold Black: black rims with a gold bridge and gold arms. The warmest of the four.
- Silver Black: black rims with silver arms. Cooler and crisper.
- Metallic Grey: grey throughout, with no black at all. The softest, most minimal look.
- Black: all black, slim and plain.

Is it a fit for you?
At 140 mm across with a 17 mm bridge and 138 mm arms, Feather is an everyday medium. Most average faces will find it comfortable.
The nose is where a wire frame differs. It rests on two small clear pads instead of a moulded plastic bridge, so the weight sits on two small points. If plastic frames tend to pinch or slide on your nose, a pad-style frame is worth trying. Not sure? Email us before you order and we will help you check.
Wire frame or thick frame?
A wire frame is for you if you want the frame to disappear and a lighter feel. Choose a thicker frame if you want the glasses to make a statement. Our Autumn wayfarer-style glasses are the opposite: a thick square plastic frame, in more colours.
Looking after a thin frame
- Use both hands to put them on and take them off. Thin metal bends more easily than thick plastic.
- Don't put them loose in a pocket or a bag. A hard glasses case keeps the shape.
- Clean the lenses with a soft cloth, such as our microfiber glasses cleaning cloths.
Common questions
Are wire frame glasses fragile?
They bend more easily than thick plastic, but a bent wire frame can often be straightened by an optician. A hard case and two-handed handling prevent most damage.
Do thin frame glasses suit a large lens?
Yes. Feather's lenses are large (56 × 49 mm), and the thin rim keeps the look light instead of heavy.
What does "rounded square" mean?
The lens has straight sides and soft corners, somewhere between a square and a circle. It is a gentler shape than a sharp square frame and a more structured one than a full round.
Is this a computer glasses frame?
It is built for screen work, with a clear lens that keeps colours true. See the rest of our computer glasses if you want to compare.
Can I put my prescription in these frames?
No. They come with non-prescription lenses only. If text looks blurry on your screen, see an optometrist first. Read more in non-prescription glasses in Canada.
How much are they?
